Further information

There are many ways that you can research the history and archaeology of East Oxford, even from your home computer.  Below are some links which will help you begin.

Oxoniensia

A number of articles about discoveries in East Oxford have been published in Oxoniensia, the journal of the Oxfordshire Architectural and Historical Society.  A list of these has been compiled by Leigh Mellor.

Oxfordshire Heritage Search

Oxfordshire Heritage Search provides access to the Oxfordshire Historic Environment Record (HER), oral and photographic archives, items held by Oxfordshire Museum Services and records from the Oxfordshire History Centre.  This should be one of the first places to look when investigating the history and archaeology of your area.

Oxfordshire History Centre

Based in St Lukes Church, Temple Road, Cowley, the Oxfordshire History Centre holds thousands of paper archives as well as maps and photographs.
